The Mice and The Weasels
Aesop | Greece
The Mice, tired of losing to the Weasels, appointed leaders who wore fancy head-dresses, but these fancy head-dresses trapped them instead.

Once upon a time, there were Weasels and Mice who didn't get along. The Weasels were always stronger and would catch the Mice to eat for dinner. The Mice were tired of losing, so they decided to have a big meeting.
At the meeting, the Mice decided they needed leaders to help them win against the Weasels. They chose the smartest and bravest Mice to be their leaders. To show they were leaders, these special Mice wore fancy hats made of feathers and straw.
The Mice practiced and practiced to get better at fighting. After a long time, they felt ready and challenged the Weasels to another fight. The Weasels, who loved to fight and eat, quickly said yes and ran to fight the Mice.
When the battle began, the Mice got scared and started to run away. The regular Mice, who didn’t have fancy hats, ran into their tiny holes and hid safely. But the leader Mice, with their big fancy hats, couldn't fit into the holes. They got stuck, and the Weasels caught them and ate them.
The Mice leaders thought they were special because of their fancy hats, but it was the hats that got them into trouble. The Mice learned that it’s not about looking important or special, but about being smart and making good choices.
