The Woodpecker, Turtle, And Deer

Once upon a time, in a lush green forest near a beautiful lake, lived three special friends - a Deer, a Woodpecker who had her nest high in a tree, and a Turtle who called the lake his home. These three lived in perfect harmony, their friendship bringing joy and peace to their lives.

One day, a hunter came to the forest. Noticing the footprints of the Deer by the lake's edge, he decided to capture the Deer. He set a strong leather trap near the water and left.

When the Deer went to drink water later that night, he was caught in the hunter's trap. In distress, he called out loudly. Hearing his cries, both the Woodpecker and the Turtle rushed over to help.

The Woodpecker quickly came up with a plan. She said to the Turtle, "You have sharp teeth. If you gnaw at the trap, we can free our friend. I'll make sure the hunter stays away." And so, the Turtle started chewing on the trap, while the Woodpecker flew towards the hunter's house.

As dawn broke, the hunter, carrying his knife, was about to leave his house. Suddenly, the Woodpecker swooped down, flapping her wings at the hunter's face. This startled the hunter, making him go back inside. He decided to leave from his back door next time.

The clever Woodpecker guessed the hunter's move. She sat by the back door, ready to intervene once more. As the hunter appeared, she flew at him again, stopping him in his tracks. This game of distraction continued till the sun was high in the sky.

Finally, the Woodpecker returned to her friends, alerting them of the hunter's arrival. By this time, the Turtle had managed to gnaw through all but one of the trap's bonds. Despite the pain and the blood in his mouth, he continued his efforts. The Deer, hearing the warning, used all his strength and broke the last bond, freeing himself just in time as the hunter approached.

The Woodpecker flew back to her nest, while the Deer ran deeper into the woods. Unfortunately, the Turtle, weakened by his efforts, couldn't move and was captured by the hunter. Seeing his friend in trouble, the Deer decided to lure the hunter away. He let the hunter see him, then led him further into the forest. Once they were far enough, the Deer swiftly escaped, and rushed back to the trapped Turtle.

The Turtle wasn't where he left him. He called out, and heard the Turtle's voice from a bag hanging on a tree. Using his antlers, the Deer tore open the bag, freeing the Turtle.

The Deer then advised his friends, "The hunter might return soon. Woodpecker, fly high up to your nest. Turtle, hide in your lake. And I will camouflage myself in the forest." When the hunter returned, he found nothing but his torn bag. All three friends had escaped.

And so, the Deer, the Woodpecker, and the Turtle continued to live happily in their forest home, their friendship and courage a testament to the fact that when friends work together, they can overcome even the toughest challenges.
