Tale of the Three Fishes
Vishnu Sharma | India
Three fish lived in a lake, but when fishermen planned to catch them, the two left while the laid-back one stayed and was caught.

Once upon a time, in a beautiful lake, there were three fish who were best friends. Each fish was different, but they loved spending time together.
One day, the most careful fish heard some fishermen near the lake. They were talking about how many fish were in the lake and said they would come back the next day to catch them all. Worried, the careful fish swam quickly to tell its friends what it heard.
"We must leave this lake now," it warned them. "I heard the fishermen saying they will come tomorrow to catch all the fish. It’s not safe here anymore."
The second fish, who was very sensible, agreed. "Yes, we need to leave right away. We shouldn’t wait," it said.
But the third fish, who was very relaxed, was not convinced. "Why are you so worried?" it asked. "We have been safe here for a long time. I’m sure we can avoid the fishermen if they come. There’s no need to leave our home."
Even though the third fish didn’t want to go, the first two fish decided to leave the lake. They swam to a nearby river, leaving the third fish behind, who thought it could handle any danger.
The next day, the fishermen came to the lake as they had planned. They threw their nets into the water and started catching fish. The third fish, realizing too late how serious the situation was, tried to escape but got caught in a net. The fishermen were very happy with their big catch.
Meanwhile, the first two fish, now safe in the river, were relieved they had left the lake in time. They lived their lives in the river, thankful they had escaped the danger."
