Androcles and the Lion

There is a man. His name is Androcles. Androcles is a slave. One day, he runs away. He goes to a big forest. The forest is dark. He is lost.

In the forest, Androcles sees a lion. The lion is on the ground. The lion is sad. It makes sad noises. The lion has a big thorn in its paw. The paw hurts. Androcles is kind. He pulls out the thorn. The lion is happy.

Androcles and the lion become friends. They play in the forest. They are happy.

One day, soldiers come. They catch Androcles. They take him back to his master. The master is mad. He wants to punish Androcles.

The master puts Androcles in a big arena. He wants to see Androcles fight a lion. The people come to watch. They shout and cheer.

The door opens. The lion comes out. It is the same lion. Androcles and the lion look at each other. The lion is happy. It runs to Androcles. It does not hurt Androcles.

The emperor sees this. He is surprised. He asks Androcles, “Why does the lion like you?” Androcles tells his story. The emperor is happy. He lets Androcles and the lion go free.

Androcles and the lion are free. They are happy.

In ancient times, there was a man named Androcles who was a slave. He decided to escape from his cruel master and found himself wandering in a large, dark forest. As he walked, he heard a low, sad sound. Curious, he followed the noise and discovered a lion lying on the ground in great pain.

When he looked closer, Androcles saw a big thorn stuck in the lion’s paw. The lion looked at him with pleading eyes, and Androcles felt very sorry for it. Carefully and gently, he pulled out the thorn and wrapped the wound with parts of his own clothes. The lion, now free of pain, licked Androcles' hand gratefully. From that day on, the lion and Androcles became good friends and lived peacefully together in the forest.

However, their peaceful days did not last long. Soldiers found Androcles and took him back to his master. As a punishment for escaping, Androcles was sentenced to be thrown to the lions in a big arena for people to watch.

On the day of his punishment, Androcles was led into the arena, where a fierce, hungry lion awaited him. The crowd watched eagerly as the lion approached. But then, something surprising happened. Instead of attacking, the lion recognized Androcles and approached him gently. It was the same lion Androcles had helped in the forest. The lion nuzzled him, showing no signs of anger.

The emperor, amazed by this unusual event, called Androcles to him and asked why the lion acted this way. Androcles told the story of how he had removed the thorn and cared for the lion’s paw. Touched by this story of kindness and loyalty, the emperor decided to free Androcles. He also set the lion free, allowing them to live together again.

Once upon a time, in a place where fairy tales went for summer holidays, there was a fellow named Androcles. He didn't exactly enjoy his day job, so one sunny morning, he thought, “Enough's enough!” and sprinted off like he'd seen free ice cream. And where do you hide when you're trying to dodge grown-up duties? The enchanted forest, of course!

But, oh dear, it wasn't just magical mushrooms and chatty squirrels in there. Nope. Androcles bumped right into a lion, who, instead of roaring, was sobbing like he'd dropped his lollipop. "What's up, big guy?" asked Androcles, trying not to look like a snack. The lion, with a sad face, lifted his paw. "Got a pesky thorn. Big ouch," he whimpered, looking as sad as a teddy bear left in the rain.

Androcles chuckled. "Hold on, Mr. Lion. Let's turn that frown upside down!” And with a little tug, the thorn was out! Faster than you can say "jellybeans", they became the best of pals. They played hide and seek, told jokes, and Androcles even tried to teach the lion to dance.

But, as stories go, trouble brewed. Androcles got caught for playing hooky and was sent to an arena for a "surprise performance." The guest star? His lion buddy!

The crowd was all excited, expecting a lion vs. snack showdown. But, instead of a roar, there was a purr. The lion bounded over, giving Androcles a big, fluffy hug.

The emperor, scratching his head, asked, "What's this? A dance-off?"

Androcles, with a grin, shared their forest adventure. The emperor, chuckling, said, "Alright, alright. Off you go! And maybe take some dance lessons, Mr. Lion."

And so, Androcles and his two-left-feet lion wandered back to the forest, ready for more adventures. Maybe even starting a forest dance school. Who knows?

In a forest vast and filled with shade,
Androcles wandered, his hope starting to fade.
Escaping a life where freedom seemed but a gleam,
He came upon a lion, looking far from supreme.

A lion lay still, with a tear in his eye,
Groaning with each breath, as time went by.
Boldly stepping closer, what did he find?
A thorn in its paw, of the sharpest kind!

Bravely, with gentle hands, so tender and neat,
Androcles plucked the thorn, an amazing feat!
The lion’s heart warmed, its gratitude real,
A bond formed between them, a deep one they'd feel.

Together they roamed, side by side they played,
But fate intervened, and their joy began to fade.
Soldiers found Androcles, to his master he was brought,
In the arena with lions, his life would be sought.

The day had arrived, the arena's sand was hot,
Androcles stood there, a lonely and fearful spot.
A lion charged forward, its roar loud and grand,
But instead of an attack, it licked his outstretched hand.

The emperor, stunned, called him to his side,
“How did this beast become your guide?”
With pride in his voice, Androcles did explain,
Of the day in the forest, and the lion's pain.

Hearing the tale, the emperor’s heart did sway,
Both lion and man were free from that day.
And so in history, their story does shine,
Of a man and a lion, and a bond so divine.
